Happy Friendship Day – let’s spread a smile today

Do you remember the crazy times spent in the school bus; the late nights when you studied for your exams; bunking the sleepy tuition classes or the mischiefs pulled in the college canteens? Do you miss attending the most boring lectures together, sleeping together, snoring together, being caught and punished together. Ferocious school fights; the back bench associations; college election campaigns, sports week and college festivals. Remember the good old days and the good old friends forever? So this August 2, when whole of India will be celebrating the friendship day, any plans, for this Sunday; your long, lost, forgotten, friendship day! Since the first time you stepped out of your home, friendship is the one bond that has stood forever with you, but asks nothing in return. Times good or bad; friend is the one who laughs at you, cries along, advises whether you like it or not, hears you, dances with you, scolds you, slaps you, hugs you; and there is no end to the true bond of friendship. But with expanding skylines, increasing distances, hectic schedules and tiring lifestyles; the forever friendships are fading at a fast pace. Often we wish to meet, relax and chill out; smile, laugh and cry; just like the old times; but such plans hardly transpire, in the end making the distance wider than ever. Relax. This rainy season of August, on the first Sunday; it’s time to sit over some strong adrak chai and spicy mouth savouring pakoras, and relish the good old times. Rather, better than before, it’s time to revive old bonds and make some new ones! So before this friendship day comes to an end, remember and marvel the great bond of friendship. Call the friend you have wanted to catch up with and recreate the best of moments, again. Because this friendship day is all about spreading the smile all over again. So smile, laugh and enjoy the friendship day as the old proverb states it best ‘If you see a friend without a smile; give him one of yours.’
